Bedoba celebrates Georgia’s rich cultural fusion of European, Persian, Arabian, Anatolian, and Far Eastern influences, making it one of the world’s most hospitable nations. The wine was created through a collaboration between Georgian winemaker Nugzar Ksovreli of Kakheti and Swiss wine entrepreneur Thierry Fontannaz, who admires Georgia’s ancient winemaking techniques.
Named after the Georgian tradition of “Day of Luck,” Bedoba symbolizes the wish for prosperity in the new year. The wine is crafted from Saperavi grapes grown in Kakheti’s historic micro-zones of Kindzmarauli and Kvareli. The 30-year-old vines are sustainably farmed on slate soil, producing a wine with unique character.
The 2021 harvest was handpicked from September to November, with some grapes left to naturally dry for added richness. The vinification process includes fermentation in stainless steel and qvevri amphoras, followed by maturation in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Full-bodied wine with flavors of blackberries, mountain herbs, black pepper, and floral notes. It pairs well with roast lamb, grilled pork, hard cheeses, and more, best enjoyed at 16°C.
